The only writing I did on my just completed, much needed, 20-day vacation, were three letters to my children. No blog posts, columns, e-letters,fundraising or marketing pieces. I needed time to read and be still rather than produce.

I’ve notice that when I come back from vacation I am able to often address intractable problems that are inevitably a part of organizational life with renewed energy and creativity.

Obama is trying to address a fractious set of issues in our health care system. While he recently vacationed for two weekends and a week, I’m concerned that he didn’t take enough time off to return to address health care with renewed vigor and creativity it needs.
